| Posted: 29 Mar 2015 07:19 PM PDT It's not that their father "pulled strings". Actors don't have as much say in casting as people think. It's more that as a successful actor their father knew the business end of the industry and had contacts. The boys would still be have to be able to work at a professional level to keep getting jobs. They would still have to win auditions no matter who their father is. Networking is not just knowing people - it's that people know you and trust your skills and want to work with you. I don't know what training they received, but as stong actors I'm sure they continued to get training throughout their careers. Because of their connections (and skills) they were able to work on their father's show and other experience like that instead of community theater. Show business is not that different from any other business. Networking is important as is understanding the industry. But it's not enough to just know people, you need the skills as well. |
