Question: Is Rene Descartes the most influential philosopher in Epistemology? Posted: 25 Mar 2015 08:44 AM PDT He is certainly a towering figure in the field. It is because of him that philosophers ever since have felt compelled to start, implicitly at least, with the question "why not solipsism?" Personally, I might name Charles Peirce as the "MOST important," in large part because he slayed the Cartesian dragon.

Question: Are you as sick and tired of me about attacks on the vegetarian philosophy? Posted: 25 Mar 2015 07:13 AM PDT Everyone is entitled to their opinion. A rational argument on any subject is always welcome. Having said that some are more rational than others. Philosophy is about critical thinking, not attacks on others beliefs. Note the word belief. Any belief which seeks to inflict views on others despite all evidence to the contrary does not belong in the philosophy drawer. Being vegitarian is a freedom being exercised but does not qualify as a philosophy on it's own merit. So no, but you don't need to get emotional.
Question: Do you think Kant or Aristotle provides us with the superior moral theory? Posted: 25 Mar 2015 07:06 AM PDT Aristotle believes in building character, and Kant believes in obedience to duty. Aristotle in essence is saying if you have a great soul, you'll do what is right. Kant is saying, you can't even really know what your soul is like, but you can through reason discern what is your duty. I'm not a big admirer of the ethics of either. I believe in a pluralist, intuitive teleology. G.E. Moore, William James, and Isaiah Berlin all helped form my views here. But you probably don't care about that....,
