| Question: Why is there a stereotype for Theatre? Posted: 26 Mar 2015 09:00 PM PDT There's traditionally always been a lot of gays in theater. And prostitutes by the way. And jews of course. It was always a business that attracted socially marginalized groups like that is why. And young people always spend a lot of time accusing each other of being gay anyway, so any excuse to cast the same old aspersion is going to be grasped at. |

| Question: How can i make it as an actor? Posted: 26 Mar 2015 07:00 PM PDT Start with acting classes and auditioning for what you can - community theater is a good place to start. The basics of acting are the same on stage or on camera. You need to figure out if you really love the work of acting and if you're any good at it. Be honest with yourself - What if acting isn't what you expect? The reality of acting is often different than what people imagine. Then you have to research and learn the business end of the industry. There are not a bunch of open auditions you can go to until your "discovered". For most professional work you have to be invited to audition, usually through an agent. It involves unions and marketing and networking - it's like running a business and you are the product to be marketed and sold. To learn the business read trades like http://www.backstage.com/advice-for-acto... . Read books about the business. Talk to working actors. Then you can come up with a plan that might work for you. Good luck |
