Question: What do you guys think if this quote? Is it powerful? Thanks!? Posted: 30 Mar 2015 08:57 AM PDT The purpose of man himself, is to explore and fullfill the depths of his curiosity by the greatest reasonable means, not to be convinced by dominance, into an ambition of wealth and material. Only then can a society rise and unite towards finding answers to the greatest mysteries of the universe. How can I make it better or is already good enough?
| Question: Does Life Have True Meaning? Posted: 30 Mar 2015 08:47 AM PDT The point is up to you. That's the beauty of it. We don't have a magic sky daddy ruling over us with a predetermined fate for us. Knowing there is no such thing as "God's plan" is liberating though since the meaning you are looking for is entirely up to you. You decide your own value and meaning. And to insinuate there is a point to all of is loading the question. But about death, consider this. When you lose an eye, do you continue to see through that socket? If you lose a hand, can you still use chopsticks? Likewise, if your brain is removed, the very organ that makes up you as a whole, the personality, the memories, the entire life being of that person, not to mention the fact that it regulates every other function in the body, will you continue to live? No. When the brain dies and is no longer of functioning value, you die. You can't continue to use senses that are not there.

Posted: 30 Mar 2015 08:41 AM PDT Why do middle eastern (male) students argue about philosophy with the professor in poetry class? --- As I'm not a middle eastern male, this is only a guess. But many religious and philosophical works in the middle east were traditionally written in the form of poetry. So, they may consider all poetry to be inherently philosophical .
Question: A liberal says "My glass is half full." A conservative says, "Who drank half my water?"? Posted: 30 Mar 2015 08:25 AM PDT A liberal says "Boo-hoo, I FEEL bad...who is to blame for this awful situation!?!" A conservative says "Come over here, punk, so I can slap some sense into your lil haid. And do it NOW!" A liberal says "Okay, daddy." ------- You're going to be nothing but OWNED you keep on playing this game - you KNOW that, right, Timbo?
Question: Do you share Ayn Rand's individualism? Posted: 30 Mar 2015 08:24 AM PDT Do you share Ayn Rand's individualism? --- Since Rand's conception of individualism is the most anti-scientific "philosophy" since Marxism....No. (Also, nothing Ayn Rand said is even remotely new. The moral theory she claims to have invented had existed since about 300 BC. She was just too un-read and ignorant to know it. This is why the first task of the philosopher is to read....not to shoot your mouth off. Something Rand never quite grasped.)
