Question: Could I become a professional ballet dancer? Posted: 10 Aug 2016 12:29 PM PDT Lorraine is correct. Talk to your teachers. How could we possibly assess your gifts? We cannot see you dance. It is not only the right training that is required for a ballet career but you also need to be born in the 2% of the population that has the right body (bone and muscle structure,) facility and musicality that a ballet career requires. No amount of training no matter how good it is can change those things as you need to be born like that. If you are truly in professional level training you would be screened for being in that 2% or they wouldn't train you. Does your school produce a great number of dancers who go on to ballet careers? If not perhaps consider better training. At age 14 you should be taking at least 20 hours of ballet technique classes a week year round. That would include, variations, pas de deux and character classes as well as your ballet classes. At age 14 all your ballet classes should be en pointe.
Question: How can I find the motivation to exercise? Posted: 10 Aug 2016 04:37 AM PDT Hi. I do ballet, yet the only ever time I practise is in class. Recently I've cut back a lot of days. I used to do about 9 classes a week, but now I'm only doing 2. Due to the much fewer classes and dances I'm learning, I find it hard to practise. I feel like I have already mastered them, since there's so much less dances I'm learning, but I also feel like I'm being lazy. Please help me to find motivation to exercise and dance. Thanks so much! [No rude answers please]

Question: How do I make my son a dancer? Posted: 09 Aug 2016 09:38 PM PDT Well, its great that you live in LA; there are a lot of opportunities there if he wishes to pursue dance. At this age, rigorous dance training in techniques such as ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and tap are obviously not needed. Visit local dance studios or do some research online for dance classes in LA for toddlers; there are lots of great options. Of course he won't be the only boy, all kids can dance. Let him dance around and have fun, Good luck :)
Question: Is competitive dance worth it? Posted: 09 Aug 2016 08:58 PM PDT I used to take dance at my local dance studio but quit as a teen, after I got into a performing arts high school. However, many kids at this high school still take classes outside of school and this upcoming school year I wanted to rejoin my old dance studio and join its competition team. I know how expensive competitive dance can get: at this particular studio it goes up to $3000 a year. The school year is quickly approaching and I just don't know what to do with dance. I'd feel so bad making her pay so much for something she feels is so unnecessary. ^Just want some opinions on this situation, thank you!
