| Question: Does a haiku have to a certain consistent stress scheme/pattern? Posted: 14 Aug 2016 04:40 PM PDT Whether something is a haiku is more than just the pattern. Basically you're demanding that everyone pretend that the bastardized American school child version of this form of poetry be accepted as the definition. You can write this way but calling it a haiku makes you a bit of a jerk. |

| Question: What literary term would apply to this poem? Posted: 13 Aug 2016 08:55 PM PDT I have no promises to keep Nor miles to go before I sleep, For miles of years I have made promises and (mostly) kept them. It's time I slept. Now I lay me down to sleep With no promises to keep. My sleaves are ravelled I have travelled. (I'm asking in terms of Haiku, trimeter, octameter, quatrain....just give me any information, I'm lost) |
