Question: History Imagination Effort .. What if the USSR was never invented in 1922? Posted: 15 Aug 2016 06:05 AM PDT In fact, by 1905, Russia was on the way to becoming a constitutional monarchy instead of an autocracy, with a representational legislature. It had a long way to go, but if World War I hadn't intervened so disastrously, it's quite possible that democracy would have developed relatively peacefully -- there would have been no Revolution. It's also possible that even if the Revolution had still occurred, if Lenin had lived longer and managed to keep Stalin out of power, the Soviet Union would have developed rather differently. If, if, if....
Question: Alternative History ...Africa the most Powerful Continent for 500 years, instead of Europe? Posted: 15 Aug 2016 05:43 AM PDT This isn't alternative history this is fantastical history. Africa was never going to become a major power on par with Europe. What it came down to was food. Food means growth, growth means larger population, larger populations means there are more people to perform labour which means there are more people with time left to think and large populations means the need to spread out. Rivers: Africa lacks a larger number of major river systems. They have them, don't get me wrong but in comparison to Europe? Not even major major river systems, Europe have extensive small river systems as well. take a look of a map of all the rivers in Europe and compare that to Africa. Both had an enormous supply of fresh water. 2, Climate. Now, of course the climate of Africa differs greatly, as it does in Europe but on the whole Africa is much less suited for agriculture. It is much more drier, hotter and with fare less rainfall. Europe on the other want is far cooler, wetter with frequent rainfall. 3: Disease. In comparison to Europe, Africa had far many diseases, parasites, insects and sickness that attacked not only people but also livestock and crops. If you want to ask what if Africa advanced further than European and colonised it then my answer is this : Africa would be have a completely different continent in just about every single manner to the one we know. That is what was needed in order for that to happen __________________________ You're comparing the argument of what a country would look like without a political entity governing it to what an entire continent would like like in 500 years of history if it was fundamental geographically different with with river systems and climate that doesn't exist tin reality? Alternative history and fantastical history is not the same thing.

Question: What happened after the Soviets liberated Warsaw ( WW2)? Posted: 15 Aug 2016 02:28 AM PDT The Soviets encouraged the Poles in Warsaw to have an uprising, and then waited until the Germans crushed the uprising before taking the city. That was done because those which opposed German occupation would also likely oppose Soviet occupation. Germany killed off the malcontents for the Soviets. Upon liberation, the Soviets retained full control of Poland until well after the war ended, and functional control until the mid eighties.
