Question: Best DNA genealogy test? Posted: 18 Aug 2016 06:37 PM PDT I am trying to decide on a DNA test to know my family history, but I am looking for a detailed one. For example, I know my father's grandparents were from Italy but I would like to know if they were from Northern or Southern Italy. I was thinking of getting the Family Tree DNA or National Geographic's Genographic test, but I do not know if either of these go as detailed as I would like. Can anyone tell me what test, either the 2 above or any others, would be best for what I want? Thanks.

Question: What language does the last name "Byer" seem to originate from? Posted: 18 Aug 2016 06:03 PM PDT My father told me that his father told him that the last name "Byer" means farmer in German? But I have done research and I have found nothing on the topic. Also could someone tell me if this last name is popular where they are from? Or have you met anyone with this last name?
Question: How are they related, are they related two ways? Posted: 18 Aug 2016 02:28 PM PDT Both. As the children of brothers, they are first cousins. Full first cousins, not half. As the children of the same mother mother but different fathers, they are half-siblings. The children of siblings are first cousins. The children of half siblings are half first cousins, although most people don't use "half" outside of the genealogy clubhouse. Maxi is pretty sharp; she must have answered before she had her first cup of coffee. Most people are related more than one way, although until they do genealogy they don't know it. My siblings, for instance, are also my 4th, 5th and 6th once removed cousins. It was pretty common, before WWI, for a man to marry his brother's widow, or his dead wife's sister, so the children in the mixed family would be exactly as you described; half siblings and (full) first cousins.
Posted: 17 Aug 2016 10:03 PM PDT wtf this is a stupid question Your eye color doesn't really indicate your ancestry. Some black people have light eyes. Lots of white people have dark eyes. not possible to be answered given this information NEXXXXXT!
