| Question: Are propagandas a primary source or a secondary source? Posted: 07 Aug 2016 07:33 AM PDT Propaganda is a primary source or a secondary source, which like all sources must be evaluated for bias. If I tell an eyewitness account of what happened at the bar last night, I am a primary source. Now I very well might color that story to make myself a hero, everyone else a moron, and the bar seem to be a pisshole (because I'm barred). That would be propaganda of a form. Now if I hear something happened at the bar, my friends relate a story to me, and then I blog about it, I am a secondary source. Now if I write that story to make it look like a pisshole (because I'm barred) that is still propaganda. Any Propaganda can be a primary source, if you're discussing propaganda. However, if you're looking to discuss an event, which is in the propaganda, it is likely (although not always) a secondary source. Consider a political speech. Propaganda, right? Yet a political speech often includes alleged facts from the person's life. See how that is a primary source on the person's life, even though you suspect he is lying? |
