Question: Sm email audition?

Update : Also, does anyone know if SM actually checks their email auditions?

Question: Acting and modeling?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 10:11 PM PDT

Acting has absolutely nothing to do with modelling.
And if you want to get into acting, never mention modelling. Most acting professionals think models are just a joke.
All genuine auditions are found through agents. Open calls are either scams, for amateur stuff, or porn.

If you want to be an actor, get into a really good acting school and after a few years they'll explain how you can find an agent - if you have enough training and experience - and, of course, enough talent.

Musical theater audition songs for a low alto voice (girl)?

I audition for a lot of musical theater productions in my hometown, and I like to maintain a repertoire of several songs that I can whip out when I get short notice for an audition (which happens quite a bit). My range goes from E3 to G5, and I would like to showcase my extensive range. Low alto notes are more in my comfort zone. I would prefer if the songs are from a broadway musical, but this is not a must. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer and God bless!!!

Question: What is the name of this stage play?

What is the name of this stage play?

When I was in high school I did a play about toys coming to life in an attic. It was a cast of three; a barbie, a teddy bear, and a G.I. Joe. I no longer have the script and it's really bothering me that I can't find it anywhere. I believe it was called Playthings but I can't find it under that title or any other title. My friend and I really bonded over that play and I'd like to find the script so I can give it to my friend as a birthday present. Please help.

Question: Ideas for a double reed sextet?

You might want to look into what the Bubonic Bassoon Quartet has done. (Yeah, silly name, but it really exists and they are top-notch professional musicians.) That's an assembly for which there is absolutely no existing music, but they arrange other stuff for their own bizzarre instrumentation. They're funny, too. Their work might give you some inspiration.

You could advertise your concerts by walking around school the day before carrying your reed knives unsheathed. That'll get people's attention and respect. (Disclaimer: Don't do that if it's illegal in your school, which it probably is.)

Good luck. Sounds like fun.

Guitar and nails?

So I play the bass, when I started playing the bass my nails were short, but over the past month I wanted to let them grow, so I did and now they are pretty and long. But when I play the guitar now, my nails hit the other strings, I want to keep my nails, and still play guitar. Is there anyway to keep my nails without shortening them? Or some how keep them from touching the other strings? Please help me.

I know all the background and information about this (including positive and negative reviews). I simply want to know what their price packages are. They obviously are pretty on the DL about divulging that information to you right away and I would like to know about what range I am looking at before I speak with them again. Thanks.

Question: Is 14 too late to learn the guitar?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 04:35 PM PDT

Start by ignoring anybody who ever said or implied that was too old.
Quite the opposite in fact - it might be an ideal age, with your physical body starting to mature in many ways, and your awareness and ability to discipline yourself to stay with something becoming longer than an "hour". Enough for now - we can talk more about what you'll need, but you are very good to go at 14!

An Australian poet's writing on how war is dehumanisng and degrading

And when I say eyes right I want to hear
those eyeballs click and the gentle pitter-patter
of falling dandruff you there what's the matter
why are you looking at me are you a queer?
look to your front if you had one more brain
it'd be lonely what are you laughing at
you in the back row with the unsightly fat
between your elephant ears open that drain
you call a mind and listen remember first
the cockpit drill when you go down be sure
the old crown-jewels are safely tucked away what could be more
distressing than to hold off with a burst
from your trusty weapon a mob of the little yellows
only to find back home because of your position
your chances of turning the key in the ignition
considerably reduced? allright now suppose
for the sake of argument you've got
a number-one blockage and a brand-new pack
of Charlies are coming at you you can smell their rotten
fish-sauce breath hot on the back
of your stupid neck allright now what
are you going to do about it? that's right grab and check
the magazine man it's not a woman's tit
worse luck or you'd be set too late you nit
they're on you and your tripes are round your neck
you've copped the bloody lot just like I said
and you know what you are? You're dead, dead, dead

Question: What type of rhyme is this?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 03:52 PM PDT

In the literary sense, I wanna know what kind of rhyme it is to rhyme more than one word with just one word in the next line. I'll give examples.

"Along came a [spider]
Who sat down [beside her]." -Little Miss Muffet.

"Here's a little somethin' bout a [***** like me]
Never shoulda been let out the [penitentiary]." - Appetite for Destruction.

When I say the literary sense, I mean things like true rhyme, end rhyme, terza rima, cuplets, etc.

Question: Need help with a title for my poem!?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 03:40 PM PDT

Hi everyone!

I am writing a poem, but I cannot think of a title. The poem is basically based off of a dream. This person wakes up (in their dream, so technically they are still asleep, but they don't know that). They start to hear noises from downstairs. They go to see what it is, but as soon as they open their bedroom door the noises stop. The person closes their door and the noises immediately start again. The person feels as if they are going insane.

What would be a good title?

Thanks!

Question: Is it normal to want people to see your art?

Yes, very normal, if you like your art. But if you don't like your own art, then you've got a problem.
Except, if it's a painting, you can paint over it- but only once or twice.

Question: Stradivarius copy- Vintage violin questions?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 11:43 AM PDT

There are hundreds of thousands of Strad copies.
Some are cheap, tatty fiddles, worth nothing at all - others are worth a few hundred pounds.
I have six such violins - none would be worth getting restored. It would cost maybe £350 for each to be adequately restored, after which they would be worth about £250 each.

Get a really expert valuation and opinion before spending a penny on it.
Even if it turns out to be worthless in monetary terms, it's still a wonderful piece of family history.

Question: Good Name for Art Website?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 01:36 AM PDT

Hey Guys! I'm making a website designed to sell my art on paper, t-shirts, etc.

My art is very versatile. I've done Pokemon in watercolor, worked with acrylics, pen, pencil, etc.
However, my art and purpose revolves around what's popular, as in Pop Culture.

I really want to make something fun, catchy/memorable and simple. Its not necessary, but I would like to include the word Pop.

These are just some ideas:

ThePopShop
ThePopScene
iHeartPop
TeamPopArtWorks

Just brainstorming. I'd like it to be generic but unique at the same time. Its a bit difficult lol.

Thanks!

Question: Should I go to Homecomeing (read details)?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 10:42 AM PDT

Should I go to Homecomeing (read details)?

So I'm a sophtmore and I didn't go last year. I don't have a date and I don't think anyone will ask me. So I would just go with friends. But the problem is that I'm shy and I know I'm not going to dance and my friends won't either so should I even go? Plus everyone is just going to be grinding and I'm deffinetly not doing that! So should I go even if I won't dance?

Question: Do people sing and dance at the same time?

do people sing and dance at the same time?

Okay so when I dance hip hop I usually almost always mouth the words while dancing and I just noticed that awhile ago. When I watch videos on youtube they barelydo that. Should i work on not mouthing the words?

Question: Should I learn how to dance?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 07:24 AM PDT

Should I learn how to dance?

It's really hard to admit this because when it comes to dancing I have my "on" nights and my "off" nights. I like dancing Spanish music. Bachata, merengue, salsa, and sometimes reaggaeton. However, last night was my first time going out in a while and I noticed that I was very timid about the dancing. I wasn't confident at all. I felt like if I bumped and grind with a girl I'll look like a completely idiot in front of my friends and I missed the first few steps with bachata and the girl walked away from me :/ lol. Really though, I felt bad. I felt like a loser when I got home. Should I start taking this dancing thing more seriously because I love the feeling of being in the club with my best friends, and I feel like a got potential to shine there, I just don't got the complete skills yet. What you think?

Question: Is there any ultra secured photo uploading website?

Seeking suggestions of an ultra secured photo uploading website where piracy is 'impossible'. Today, one of my friends (he is a web developer) made me realize that Flickr and 500px are not as safe as I used to think. Yes, he managed to 'save' an original photo in its original size in front of me within just 20 seconds!

Question: Need help improving art skills?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 10:35 AM PDT

I think its great that you want to improve your skills and mature creatively as an artist. you should have a look at Surrealism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrealism)... for example, the technique of automatic drawing they used. It might help to loosen up after all the stuff you're used to doing. Or just look at what they drew- they were incredibly imaginative and its what i found helped when i wanted to move on from just drawing things and people.
Books are helpful, but they can restrict an artist. You should follow your instincts.

Question: The end of the world?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 09:02 AM PDT

Read the Book of Revelation, Isaiah, and Daniel.

It's like a novel. Then consider a relationship with Jesus Christ, for
he is the way, the truth, and the life, and the only way to the father is
by Him. John 4:16..........either He said it and it's true, or he is a lunatic,
you decide. If you decide the whilom, and put faith in Christ, turn to Him,
repent of your sins, you'll be like all of us sinners, like the Repentant Thief.
Or, reject and mock the man, and you'll be separated from God forever.

After a 1000 year reign on earth by Christ, there will be a final battle with
the evil that has taken many souls with them, but is no match for The
Most High. Earth will perish, and a New Heaven and Earth will be established.
How it all plays out is anyone's guess, but have Faith in God, and you'll be
fine, even if you are a mess like I was.

Question: Whats the most easiest was to kill myself?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 08:01 AM PDT

There is no easy way - and it would be a really stupid thing to do anyway.
Depression is beatable. Get some help, talk to someone about how you feel, and deal with it.
Everyone gets depressed sometimes, but they don't just give up.

You have to make an effort to find happiness - it doesn't just land on your doorstep.

Question: Why is this world in such a mess when we have a all powefull god that Created us?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 07:56 AM PDT

The simple answer is money, the fact governments choose to build up military power and compete with each in all the areas, choose to drop bombs on each other instead of building houses, in the name of ego and power to rule over others, the reality is we're on one planet or one ship, yet nations are still fighting for control over the ship.

The reality is 95 percent of population want nothing but peace and prosperity for everyone, unfortunately ruling families have acquired so much money due to the history of humanity, and because money controls almost everything, the majority are powerless to do anything to stop it.

Question: Is freedom a good thing or bad?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 07:48 AM PDT

Freedom from what?

The idea of having advanced technological society is to free up peoples time away from meeting their most basic needs, middle and higher social classes achieve better because their most basic needs are easily satisfied with the income they get from working, therefore enabling people to work on the bigger technological and scientific problems, while the people at the bottom the majority are on low income and rely heavily on the welfare system because the minimum wage doesn't come close to meeting the cost of supporting a family and living costs.

The majority of the world's population 3.5 billion people still live in absolute poverty
The poor working class are locked into a cycle of working just to survive, the system is designed to keep the poor people in survival mode working in blue and pink collar jobs, this will change as technology advances, were already starting to see this in the retail industry with self checkout systems.

Question: What would this world be like if everyone was intelligent?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 06:27 AM PDT

As asad said, people who lack "common sense" do have other means of intelligence. One who is a poor student may be good at making friends and can become a manager because of their interpersonal skills. One who is a poor at social skills may be good at thinking wonderfully poetic thoughts and sharing those thoughts through writing because of their intrapersonal skills. It's a beautifully varied world with many valid forms of success. Perhaps being in tune with the richness of one's nature is a success that trumps other outward displays of success, even such as family and career.

Watching Joseph Campbell discuss love with Bill Moyers in "The Power of Myth" documentary.

"In the Tristan romance, when the young couple has drunk their love potion and Isolde's nurse realizes what has happened, she goes to Tristan and says, 'You have drunk your death.'
And Tristan says, 'By my death, do you mean this pain of love?'--because there's no possible fulfillment in this world of that identity one is experiencing. Tristan says, 'If by my death, you mean this agony of love, that is my life. If by my death, you mean the punishment that we are to suffer if discovered, I accept that. And if by my death, you mean eternal punishment in the fires of hell, I accept that, too."

There is something about affirming one's own individual experience above the rules of society that makes him more human than someone simply living a correct lifestyle. Those anywhere and in all walks of life can rightly experience the insuppressible dynamism that is their nature, and, being in love with life garner the love of those around them.

In short, this world would be a less perfect place if everyone followed the rules.

Excerpted from the book by Rajaa, G.

Depending on how far you stretch the definition of Founding Father, there may have been two hundred or so between the two conventions, so threeout of two hundred isn't that weird a coincidence. Adamas and Jefferson were both old sick and frail and wanted to hang on to the anniversary of the Republic one last time; having accomplished that there was no reason to stay on longer, so they turned out the lights.

Question: Was the expulsion of Muslims in the eight century in Europe very crucial in history?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 06:09 AM PDT

If you are talking about the Spanish victory over the Moors, then it was the right that the Spaniards reconquer what was truly theirs and to take back their land from the Muslim Moors who ruled over it under Sharia.

Muslims have been invading Europe not just in Spain but also in France & Italy, if not for the heroic defiance and sacrifice of the Christian population of Europe, then the land could have been conquered.

Question: How do I write a good story?

Posted: 31 Aug 2014 04:09 AM PDT

There aren't any hard-and-fast rules about writing a book because it's not something with a definite right or wrong (unlike math). My advice from personal experience would be to first silence your inner critic and keep writing. My policy is that you must have quantity before you begin to work on quality. If you're comfortable, show your story to a friend, preferably someone who is good at English or also an aspiring writer. They would serve as a second pair of eyes and second opinion to help finetune your story. In the end, though, it really boils down to practice. Keep writing, read some books, and in a few years you will definitely improve.
Good luck. I started writing 'seriously' at 10 and 6 years on I'm still not confident on publishing, so that should give you some idea for how long it'll take.

The Earth's Children Series, starting with Clan of the Cave Bear. It's an epic chronicaling the life of a young Cro Magonon woman, who does have special powers. (Romance doesn't hit until half way through the second book, "The Valley of the Horses," but Jean Auel has won best exotica author for a few years with the books after that. And, no, you don't have to read the first in the series. One complaint about her is she over does on summing up previous books in each of her books.)

Question: Dentist, actor, or writer?

Dentist, actor, or writer?

I am currently 17 years old have a deep passion for writing and acting. I started acting since i was 15 seriously but deep down to the bone ive always known i wanted to do something with it. I am very involved with my schools drama program and have starred in a bunch of production as lead roles. I love it so much and there is nothing i'd rather do. I also love to write and have produced some of my fiction plays in school. However my parents would never support me in it. I am looking at colleges that have a great pre dental program because i feel like its something that would satisfy my financial needs and also take a bit of interest in it. Personally i wouldnt mind being a dentist, but my dream is to continue to study acting.Im looking at colleges like NYU and University of Chicago. Because i plan on auditioning for the actors studio in NYU and the yale drama program for my graduate degree after my bachelors where i can hopefully minor in theatre.I dont care what people think about my major, ill probably do something in biological science because i know that when it comes to my future i need a safe and reliable job. However, do you guys think that is a smart idea? what should i do if i do get excepted into a big drama school for my graduate degree? Would bailing on dental school be worth it? My parents would kill me :/ idk what to do please help!
If my parents find out i want anything to do with acting as a career or further education they wont support me financially :((((((

Question: How to Become a Better Actor?

Practice anywhere and everywhere. Whether it be alone in your bedroom. I could sit hours in front of the mirror practising different roles, reactions, accents. Acting is a skill and you are never too late to start, but it does take hard work, practise and commitment. Try that and audition as much as possible. Be actively involved and you will get it! i believe in you!

Question: How can I be ready for my acting interview?

Posted: 30 Aug 2014 07:29 PM PDT

This would normally be an audition with potentially a few questions as well. Having said that and with the little information you have provided I can offer the following.

Be very well prepared by knowing your audition pieces inside out and back to front (as well as the source of the pieces). Enter and exit the audition area confidently. Speak or sing your pieces clearly and at a level that can be easily heard by the panel. Be polite and friendly and acknowledge any accompanist involved (pianist).

If you are clear (no mumbling), polite and confident you will be streets ahead of most other young people auditioning. Know why you are at the interview/audition - they may ask what you are aiming for. Best of luck.

Daughter studies full time at well known acting school (years of youth theatre, vocal studies, performing arts high school before that).
