| Question: Tips on putting marching music together with a march? Posted: 20 Aug 2014 07:58 PM PDT Tips on putting marching music together with a march? Okay, so I play flute and I just joined my high school's marching band(I'm a freshman), but I'm a few days late. I'm behind everyone else because they have learned the music and the sets for the most part; and are already putting them together. I mostly have the marching down pat, and I'm trying to memorize the music, but I know that I will struggle with putting the two together. Often, I find that I stop counting while I am playing without realizing it, and I know that I need to be able to do that in order to march and play correctly. Any help with memorizing the music and, more importantly, how to march AND play without getting completely messed up? |
| Question: Terrified to perform my monologue?!? Posted: 20 Aug 2014 07:40 PM PDT Terrified to perform my monologue?!? I wrote a monologue that I have to perform tomorrow in front of my theater class, on a stage. Now I don't have stage fright, I love acting and being able to entertain the crowd. However, the reason I like it is because I'm doing exactly that - acting. I like being able to apply myself to the personality of another person (my character), I do not like the idea of performing a personal monologue to other people. It makes me feel vulnerable and exposed, or like I have a huge tattoo on my forehead that says "judge me". The monologue discusses a part of me that is private: my absent-minded side. It is a sort of role-play that jumps randomly from topic to topic which I'm hoping the crown will understand is illuminating my goofy/creative/absent-minded part of me. I just feel so uncomfortable sharing it, and I feel like I wrote it wrong or they'll think it's confusing therefore I'm not smart or something. Help please I'm freaking out. |
| Question: Audition song for Seussical the musical? Posted: 20 Aug 2014 07:32 PM PDT Audition song for Seussical the musical? | Question: Is something wrong with my guitar? Posted: 20 Aug 2014 06:24 PM PDT Hello there, The string cannot get too tight before it gets to pitch ( if you are tuning to standard pitch). Are you using an electronic tuner to make sure that you are tuning to the correct pitch. Thumping noise and pitch goes down as though wound too tightly? I take the thumping noise to mean something is giving. Too tightly? As I said above, that is not possible if you are tuning to the correct pitch. Tie the ends to allow plenty of slack? What are you talking about? What are you tying? Are you trying to tie the string? Surely not. When you say plenty of slack, that leads me to believe you are putting too many wraps about the tuning peg. Too many wraps is unstable and will not hold tune as the wraps shift. Are you using the lock down method to install the strings? If not, you should be doing that. Later, |
