Question: I've been put in intermediate ballet?!? Posted: 25 Aug 2014 01:16 PM PDT This is very exciting and also nerve wracking. I am 16 and started ballet over the summer and did it for five weeks, once a week, making it a total of 5 hrs of experience. I started again last Friday in a beginner class again and of course I loved it. The first week of classes at te studio they use it to evaluate students and make sure everyone is in the right class. At the end of our class someone even asked about it and the teacher said yes it was true, but everyone in here seems to belong in this class. HOWEVER, today my mom got a call from the studio and they're moving me up to intermediate ballet! While I am super excited, I am scared. I haven't gotten to do a full year of beginner ballet because as I said, it was just a summer program compared to doing it for a full year. What if I go to intermediate and theyre doing all these spins and stuff, things I haven't learned? What would I expect in this intermediate class? I'd really love to push myself and take the class, I'm just scared of it being too much and falling behind.
Posted: 25 Aug 2014 12:07 PM PDT Anyone can go to the teen extension program. The pre-professional requires an audition. If you have had good training, and facility along with musicality, it should not be all that hard to get into. Yes the training in ballet is very good. They have turned out many professional dancers although not too many with the ballet unless you want to count Dance Theater of Harlem as a ballet company.
Question: How to dance to electro/techno music for a guy? Posted: 25 Aug 2014 11:55 AM PDT How to dance to electro/techno music for a guy? Im a senior in highschool and there are a bunch of informal dances coming up and they always play electro music. I have no idea how to dance to it, i normally just grind and when im not grinding i feel awkward and just stand around. Can someone help me to feel more comfortable moving around or give me some helpful tips/moves? or post the link to a helpful video? thanks!
Question: Is it weird to wear jazz shoes in contemporary dance? Posted: 25 Aug 2014 11:22 AM PDT Is it weird to wear jazz shoes in contemporary dance? I've taken modern dance and wore footundeez but found them to be uncomfortable and a weird fit for me. I'm taking a contemporary beginners class and was wondering if it's normal to wear jazz shoes. I have tried them on and they are very comfy. I've seen others wear them in contemporary dance before but I'm not sure.
