Question: Am I too old to start dance?

Posted: 24 Aug 2014 11:59 AM PDT

Well I was pretty much always a singer. I did sports and theatre and never really thought about dance...just singing and stuff. Recently though I've been watching youtube videos of people dancing and I seriously just can't stop. Even them dancing on skates which I know I can't even do because I never learned how to ice skate lol. I've been watching stuff like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za25kpnmW0E&list=UUzhdUe_X8bCbFvNSeQUIFng

and Mandy Jiroux and those to inspire me so much!!! But then I asked my mom if I could take classes and she said I would never make it to where I want to be and that I'm too old to start now and I should have started when I was like 4....I'm turning 14 in October. I don't know I kind of think she is right but I really want to start dancing because it looks so fun and amazing. Is she right? If not where do I start? What classes should I start off taking if I want to dance in that video kind of style? Dance classes? Gymnastics classes? Sorry I'm just so new to this and to be honest I'm not even flexible....AT ALL!!! Thanks so much for reading!!!

Question: Is Ballet considered an exercise?

Of course. It gets your heart rate up, and you get sweaty and burn calories, not to mention all of the strength it builds. If ballet doesn't count as exercise, I don't know what does.
