Question: Audition song for Man of La Mancha? Posted: 24 Aug 2014 11:15 PM PDT Audition song for Man of La Mancha? I'm auditioning for Aldonza and I need a good audition song. Nothing from Les Mis or anything because personally I think they're waaay overdone. Thank you!
Question: What should my next step be as an actress? Posted: 24 Aug 2014 10:36 PM PDT Is it a good idea to send my Headshots and resume to Agency's if I don't have that much work on my resume yet? I've only booked 2 student films and have footage from only one, done some feature work on network show and taking 10 plus acting classes. Do I have to wait until I have enough footage for a reel? Also I am still Non-union, can I send in a packet to SAG Agencies? Is it smart to get a 292 packet of LA Agency mailing labels on castingabout.com or do you think its a waste of money? Also What do you think about those places that make a reels for you so you can have enough footage for a good reel? For example http://www.getyourreeldone.com It cost $400 for just adding 2 scenes kinda pricey :/ Please any advice helps. Thank you.
Question: 9th grade Drama auditions at Laguardia High School? Posted: 24 Aug 2014 09:51 PM PDT I'll be auditioning for the Drama department at Laguardia High School this year, as a 9th grader! (I'll be auditioning for a 10th grade seat.) I have a couple of questions about the audition process and was wondering if anyone familiar with the school and the drama department can answer them: 1) Firstly, I've heard that you have to fill out a paper before you audition that asks you some questions. If this is true, what kind if questions do they ask? Is it like stuff about your acting training? Everything else I'm familiar with. Just those questions above and kinda how auditions would work for me, as a 9th grader. Thanks! And sorry this is so long XD
Question: How to act sad and depressed? Posted: 24 Aug 2014 07:54 PM PDT The fact that you have to ask, is sad and depressing. If you're taking acting lessons, you can't just ask people how to do it. You gotta do your research, find out more about the character and the situation the character is in. You have to put yourself in their shoes and really go into their mind-set. You have to be open minded, but definitely do your research even background research on the character.
Question: Is the soliloquy in Hamlet "To Be or Not to Be" considered a jeremiad? Posted: 24 Aug 2014 07:52 PM PDT Not really. "Jeremiad" is usually used to refer to a scathing indictment of a whole society, not one person's problems. And he's not really accusing anybody of anything; this soliloquy is more of a lament and a wrestling with a decision, neither of which makes it a jeremiad.
Question: Monologue suggestions!? :)? Posted: 24 Aug 2014 06:20 PM PDT Monologue suggestions!? :)? I'm auditioning for the fiancé from "Young Frankenstein" I need a monologue that would show off her personality (but not from her play) her personality is.. Her mind set is kind of like "it's all about me" she won't let people touch her because they will ruin her hair or make up and stuff... Any suggestions for a monologue? Thanks!
