Question: Characteristics of an Epic in modern day movies/books? Posted: 21 Aug 2014 01:51 PM PDT Characteristics of an Epic in modern day movies/books? From this list of Epic characteristics, choose six that match up with a modern day movie or book example. -A long, narrative poem written in an elevated style -Originally intended to be recited or sung -Includes a character of heroic importance – "larger than life" -The hero embodies the ideals of that particular culture -The subject is a struggle for something significant to the culture -Deities and other supernatural powers intervene in human affairs and aid the hero -Starts in "media res" – in the middle -The hero makes a decent into the underworld (not always hell can be symbolic) which teaches him a lesson he can learn in no other way – usually about his mortality -The hero is introduced in the midst of the turmoil – any back story is introduce through flashbacks -The hero is often a demi-god (half man/half god) but even if not he possesses weapons of size and power passed down by the gods -Whatever the culture most prizes the hero will have in excess -The hero is of nobility -The hero usually meets his nemesis towards the end of the epic to sustain interest. -The hero has a tragic flaw which leads to his downfall
Question: Activity ideas for women's support group? Posted: 21 Aug 2014 06:03 AM PDT I run a weekly support group for women (50+) and we're about to have our planning meeting - where we plan the activities we'd like to do in our upcoming sessions. I'm struggling to come up with new ideas as to what we can do. We have a budget but we're open to new ideas (craft ideas we can do at the centre, day trips, having guest speakers in/guests to teach us skills etc...) The ladies usually like creative things we can do ourselves at the centre (e.g.: card making, glass painting etc), but we're open to any and all ideas! Note the weekly sessions are only 2 hrs long (some activities that take longer can be done for more weeks) Thanks for your help in advance!

Question: Is everything highly criticized? Posted: 20 Aug 2014 09:57 PM PDT is everything highly criticized? I always try to like different things like video games, tv shows, movies, and other stuff. But for every video game or tv show I watched or play. I always see people hating on it. Is it like this for everything. That everything is highly criticized?
