| Question: Would we be considered a biracial family? Posted: 30 Aug 2014 05:23 PM PDT My husband is full hispanic, speaks spanish, raised with mexican customs, etc. I am half hispanic and half white. I never met my hispanic father, so I was raised by my Caucasian family. I have no hispanic customs like my husband. Our children would be 75% hispanic and 25% white. Would we be considered biracial? |
| Question: Those someone with 32% native American Indian qualify? Posted: 30 Aug 2014 05:01 PM PDT Qualify for what? Tribal citizenship? Depends on which tribe. But that percentage isn't even possible. The CDIB , issued by the BIA (which is the only proof of native ancestry any tribe accepts- no tribe or the federal government accepts DNA testing) lists in fractions- 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and so on. So, first you need to obtain a CDIB- you can apply for yours here, simply by finding an ancestor who was listed on a tribal census, getting their enrollment number, and then documents proving your descent from them. Fill this out, attach the documents, and mail it in. http://www.bia.gov/cs/groups/public/docu... The BIA will then send you a CDIB, which you can use to apply for tribal citizenship, if you meet the criteria. (you don't say which tribe, otherwise I'd tell you what the criteria are.) On the other hand, if you are asking if you qualify for benefits? well, dearie, there are none. That's an urban myth. There are no free checks from the government, no free college, and you still pay taxes. |
