Please explain the Big Splat.?

I was watching Dr. Michio Kaku on my local PBS channel, and he used a term that I had never heard before called the, "Big Splat" while referring to the LHC in Cern, Switzerland. And, what I got from it was that he was talking about the smashing together of atoms, (although he said the smashing together of protons.) What I want to know is did I get it right or was he speaking about something entirely different. I will choose a best answer in 2 days. NO JOKES PLEASE! As it would only take away valuable answer space from people w/serious responses. TKS.
