| Question: How were concentration camp guards selected? Posted: 02 Aug 2014 06:06 AM PDT Heinrich Himmler (the Nazi in charge of "The Final Solution") created a selection process for the S.S. (i.e. "Schutzstaffel," or "Protection Squadron") that flattered the applicants by telling them that they were the "purest" of the "Aryan race," and that murdering Jews was an assignment requiring "special valor" that would prove that they were "supermen." They were also given good salaries, superior food, access to prostitutes, dramatic looking black uniforms with scary death's-head emblems on their hats, lots of vacation time, etc. |
