| Posted: 13 Sep 2014 05:49 PM PDT Not cleaning a flute regularly can make it seem old after a short period of time. Cleaning a flute should be done with a damp, highly absorbent silk or cotton cloth. DO NOT clean it under water, as this will permanently damage the pads. When you clean your flute, you want to clean all 3 pieces of it separately. If your flute is in absolute terrible condition, you want to go for a professional cleaning. Your flute should have a rod with a long skinny hole at the end. stick your damp cloth into this whole, and send the rod several times into and out of your flute. Doing this will prevent corrosion of the metal within the instrument. For cleaning the pads, you want to be very gentle as they are usually very sensitive. To clean them, you should use pad cleaning paper, or cigarette paper but ONLY those two. Printer paper or anything else will damage the pads. Place the paper between the pad and the tone hole. Push down the key to blot the pad, then lift the key up to remove the paper. DO NOT slide the paper with the key still closed. This can damage the instrument and lead to expensive repairs! Good luck Geneva! :) |

| Posted: 13 Sep 2014 02:15 PM PDT I am a 21 year old guy. If I hold a note sometimes with vibrato my voice will crack. Why does it crack compared to when i hold straight? I am having a problem with voice cracking. When I sing with vibrato on higher notes my voice cracks sometimes. Why does the voice crack in general and is there a way to totally eliminate this? It switches to a head voice, falsetto type sound. |
