Question: Should I GO To This Modeling/Acting Thing?

It's just another scam, designed to extract as much money as possible from gullible kids.
No-one is ever - repeat, ever - interested in beginners.
Casting directors only want real, fully trained, very experienced, professional actors.

These companies take advantage of children's dreams of getting 'discovered' - which is pure fiction anyway - and convince them to pay for classes, portfolios, headshots, website membership - that sort of thing - and promise them the earth.
All you'll get is an empty pocket/bank balance.

Question: Is Chicago a good place to start a voice over acting career?

Posted: 16 Sep 2014 06:58 PM PDT

Do you have your own studio so you can produce your own demo tapes and auditions or were you expecting to pay a professional studio to do it for you? What connections do you have in Chicago? Attempting a voice acting career is even more dependent on who you know than "regular acting". Do you have an agent in Chicago? It's extremely challenging to attempt a voice acting career without representation. How well do you understand the industry?

It's not like there are a bunch of open auditions for professional work that you can just submit to - for most professional work you have to be invited to audition, usually through a talent agent. You need to have industry connections - so if you have those in Chicago it could be helpful. If not - then you might want to do more research and learn more about the business end of things to come up with a plan/approach that might work for you.
