| Question: In the drama "The Crucible" what is McCarthyism? and what group was being targeted? Posted: 04 Sep 2014 05:46 AM PDT Senator Joe McCarthy in the US in the 50s spearheaded this campaign of accusations of treason without evidence. It was a knee-jerk reaction to the Cold War and an attempt to prevent Communism, or even left-wing ideas, including unions. It targeted high profile people in Politics and the Media and was highly publicised. Charlie Chaplin was one of those targeted and he left the US as a result. After five or six years, public enthusiasm tired as it was clear it was more of a witch hunt, people's lives were unnecessarily ruined, there was little or no evidence, and the methods used deemed no better than the Communist regime it was pretending to attack. |

Earlier today, I found a balloon in my yard, after close examination, I noticed that there was a note attached to the string, I can't seem to make out the word, but I think it says jaewkobae? I can't tell, the handwriting is weird, if you feel like you might know what this is, please email me. |
