Question: Why can't I make my own decisions?

Why can't I make my own decisions?

Why do I allow people to make decisions for me?
Why do I feel the need to be reassured for everything I do? or need approval for it. It's like I don't trust myself and if I don't get approval, then I expect something bad will either happen or I will do something wrong!?!

Question: What do you believe is the root answer for the cause of any action?

=0) You ever played this game growing up? I'm just curious as to what your own conclusions are.
For example
"mom why did he kill that man?"
"because he's mean."
"Why is he mean?"
"people were mean to him and so he's mean to other"
"why were people mean to him?
etc etc etc etc

Question: Is God a worthless slime ?

Why aren't we building a fence on our northern border?

This is currently what much of America's northern border looks like up close and personal. The clear cut area is the physical border. Mexicans come into the...

Question: Why do people need life to have "meaning"?

To prevent self refutation.
If life is without meaning, then it would be meaningless to state that life has no meaning.

However attempting to understand how our universe operates has been very beneficial for humanity.

By operating under the assumption that we can understand existence we are able to exploit any knowledge to that end.

Question: Is everything a theory.?

Kind of depends on what you mean with the word "theory". In science, a theory is the end result of the scientific method. An explanation of whatever is being studied that provides a consistent, well-tested, well-observed paradigm that explains the situation according to the best-available evidence.

All theories are "provisional"..... That is, they stand until better evidence comes along. Then, the theory must be revised, or if the new evidence is contradictory..... Abandoned.

Laymen don't like this... They want absolutes. But absolutes are hard to come by. Nonetheless, by constant refinement, we have built up a very good picture of the observable universe. More to learn, of course, but still we're doing well.

Question: Will time go by fast?

Posted: 07 Sep 2014 08:01 AM PDT

I'm now 60 - and the past 45 years have flown by so fast I can hardly believe it.

What seems like yesterday I was thinking about starting college and now I've only got 6 years before I retire.
It's scary.

Enjoy every minute of every hour of every day. You'll never get those moments ever again.
