Question: Which instrument should i play for marching band? Posted: 03 Sep 2014 09:36 PM PDT Which instrument should i play for marching band? So in fifth grade i played flute, then i changed to oboe. I have been playing oboe ever since 6th grade. I have always been the only oboe.
Question: Hey guitar guys, I'm thinking about getting a parlour guitar? Posted: 03 Sep 2014 07:38 PM PDT Anyone know a good cheap($200) make of parlour guitars? I have a variety of acoustic and electrics already, but I want to get a parlour guitar to have something I can take down to the beach or camping and just have around to fiddle with. I'd like one that's close to normal scale length(24-25in.)
Question: How to do well on a flute chair audition? Posted: 03 Sep 2014 07:22 PM PDT How to do well on a flute chair audition? I have a chair audition soon, and it was hoping for first chair, but I'm pretty sure that it's not going to happen because there's one flute who can do vibrato and another who just sounds good and I want to know if there are any tips for doing better than them or just really well. Thanks!
Question: Just got braces, nervous about acting? Posted: 03 Sep 2014 06:49 PM PDT Just got braces, nervous about acting? So I'm a junior in High School, and I take advanced acting class, which goes all year long, and I do it every year. I've just recently gotten braces, and it's still throbbing, I feel goofy looking, and am really nervous. Should I be? It just feels like the braces will make me look so much less attractive, and my acting won't seem as good? I'm so nervous :(
Question: How do I continue with guitar? Posted: 03 Sep 2014 06:37 PM PDT Why do you need to get better at guitar? Are you planning on joining a music group that takes auditions or win some competition. Or is it simply you saw some guy on youtube who could play really fast and you were envious and now want to be as good if not better. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be good, but maybe you should concentrate on having more fun with it. Find new challenges in songs you think would be fun but are also stimulating, or maybe tinker around and come up with your own ideas that require more than your current skill level. If you approach guitar as a fun activity rather than a task your skill level certainly will improve and it will be much more gratifying. I'm mean, if you want to form your own band or something you don't have to be super good, just good at playing your own songs. That stage from intermediate to 'quite good' happens very slowly and you tend not to notice it happening. You don't need any kind of music theory for it either. At your stage you can probably get the guitar to make exactly the sound you want about 50-60% of the time just by winging it, right?
